Nicholas Geary faces multiple charges after allegedly shooting his pregnant girlfriend in the back during a domestic incident in Potosi, Missouri. Authorities say the shooting followed repeated blows to the victim's stomach and threats to kill the unborn child.
Geary, born in 2006, was involved in a domestic violence incident when he struck the victim in the stomach and fired a .380 pistol at her back, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office. The victim reported prior threats to shoot her in the stomach because of the pregnancy, including comments about killing the baby and then shooting her in the head.
Geary called 911 and claimed self-defense, stating the victim was exiting a truck and known to carry knives. He admitted firing multiple rounds. The victim was treated at a local hospital for the gunshot wound but initially declined to press charges.
Police charged Geary with attempted murder, domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action. He has no prior criminal history and is being held without bond at the Washington County Jail.
