National youth sports training and competition launches in Adama

A national youth sports training and competition has begun in Adama town, Oromia region administration. Ethiopia's national youth sports training and competition kicked off on Katyit 1, 2018, in Adama town. This marks the first time all regions and the two city administrations are participating, with more than 3,000 athletes competing in 15 sports disciplines. The event aims to identify talented young sportspeople to bolster the country's athletic future.

At the opening ceremony, Culture and Sports Minister Shweit Shanka emphasized that sports offers significant opportunities for national development and fostering unity. The government is providing special focus on youth sports, which she noted is crucial for building competitive national teams in the coming years.
