The event reviewed comprehensive reforms and achievements in education, health, job creation, women's and youth empowerment, culture, sports, and more, emphasizing their role in national growth.
Addis Ababa, April 28, 2026 - Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed stated that Ethiopia is developing at a high speed beyond expectations despite challenges, emphasizing that social sector growth lays a lasting foundation for the nation and calling for public participation to translate sectoral gains into practice.
The briefing, also referred to under the theme 'Social Development Imperative for National Growth,' covered extensive results across multiple areas including education, health, skills training and job creation, hygiene-nutrition, culture, sports, women's affairs, and social affairs.
In education, a new system was introduced, teacher guides improved, and higher education exams standardized to boost quality and fairness. The health sector shifted from a 30-year prevention-focused policy to curative services, with advances in digital health and financing diplomacy.
Labor and Skills Minister W/ro Muferiyat Kamil reported job opportunities created for 19.872 million citizens domestically and abroad through TVET expansion and business incubators. Women and Social Affairs Minister Dr. Ergo Tisfaye highlighted economic and political empowerment for 26.845 million women and 4.33 million youth, plus support for vulnerable groups.
Culture and Sports Minister Shit Shanka noted 83 Olympic recognitions, 36 new cultural centers, a digital heritage system, and construction of over 17,636 sports facilities including Addis Ababa Stadium.
These achievements contribute to institutional growth, digital transformation, and human development, officials said.
