Connor Allen Kinnamon faces first-degree murder charges after allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend, Audrey Adams, in the back of the head as she held their 5-year-old son during an argument in Cushing, Oklahoma. The incident occurred early Easter morning, and Kinnamon fled the state before surrendering in Kansas. Adams was pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency efforts.
Authorities report that the 27-year-old Kinnamon and 27-year-old Adams, the mother of his child, argued verbally in his Oklahoma home, escalating to a brief shoving match. Kinnamon's mother separated them, but tensions rose when Adams called her own mother for a ride, agitating Kinnamon. Multiple family members were present when Kinnamon, standing in the dining area, pulled a gun after mentioning shooting himself and fired at Adams near the front door. She collapsed in the living room and was declared dead at 2:47 a.m. by emergency personnel who tried to save her. Their son, held in her arms, was unharmed physically. Adams' mother grabbed the boy, while Kinnamon's mother dialed 911, reporting her son's flight in her Buick Regal through the back door. Prosecutors noted in a no-bond motion that Kinnamon confessed to the back-of-head shooting. Law enforcement tracked him via cellphone pings northward into Kansas, where a deputy negotiated his surrender. Sumner County Sheriff's Office recovered the suspected 9 mm firearm and a spent casing from the home. Kinnamon admitted to detectives that he and Adams had used methamphetamine beforehand, with toxicology results pending. He remains in Payne County Jail without bond, with a preliminary hearing set for May 4.
