National Conference and People's Democratic Party traded accusations on July 27, 2026, after Mehbooba Mufti’s comments on crowd control in Kashmir. Omar Abdullah demanded an apology while the BJP called for a ban on the PDP.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah criticised PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti for remarks made in an interview. He said a former chief minister should have apologised instead of denying the comments and dismissing them as AI.
Abdullah stated that the remarks appeared to justify the use of force in Jammu and Kashmir on grounds of militancy. He noted that Mufti maintained one stand in the region and another in Delhi.
PDP legislator Waheed-ur-Rehmaan Parra accused the NC of diverting attention from arrests after the Anantnag attack. Another PDP leader, Khurshid Alam, said Abdullah had introduced pellet guns into policing.
BJP leader Sunila Sharma demanded that the PDP be banned like Jamaat-e-Islami. She accused both NC and PDP of echoing Pakistan’s narrative.
