The Baltimore Orioles snapped a three-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Sunday afternoon at Camden Yards. Leody Taveras delivered a game-saving outfield assist in the seventh inning. Chris Bassitt earned the win in relief of opener Keegan Akin.
Taveras fielded Zack Gelof's single and fired a 93.7 mph throw to catcher Samuel Basallo, who tagged out Carlos Cortes attempting to score from second base. The play preserved the lead and marked Taveras' first assist of the season. Basallo held onto the ball despite heavy contact at the plate, and home-plate umpire Carlos Torres called Cortes out.
