Óscar Landerretche elected dean of FEN at Universidad de Chile

Óscar Landerretche won the election for dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universidad de Chile and will take office on July 7, 2026.

Óscar Landerretche defeated Alejandro Micco in the second round of the election with 54.43% of the weighted votes against 45.57% for his opponent. The vote saw 89.47% participation from the FEN academic roster.

In the first round Landerretche received 35.66% of the votes, Micco 34.62% and Dante Contreras 29.72%. No candidate secured an absolute majority, forcing a runoff.

Landerretche will replace José De Gregorio, whose second term as dean ends on July 6, 2026. The new dean will assume duties the following day for a four-year term.

Landerretche is a commercial engineer from Universidad de Chile with a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and nearly 19 years at FEN as a tenured professor.
