Paris police prefect Patrice Faure announced on Thursday a ban on alcohol consumption from midday Friday and on sales from 6pm due to the heatwave.
Patrice Faure stated that hospitals in the capital and its agglomeration were saturated. He cited various prevention measures, starting with this order banning alcohol consumption in Paris this Friday from 12pm and the ban on alcohol sales from 6pm.
The prefect of Hauts-de-Seine also issued an order banning the sale and consumption of alcohol from midday this Friday. The Paris police prefect further announced that the cancellation of the Pride March scheduled for this weekend was being considered.
These decisions come as the heatwave continues with effects on the health system, including an increase in firefighter interventions and emergency room visits.
