Peter Gabriel releases Bright-Side Mix of new song

Peter Gabriel has released the Bright-Side Mix of his new song "I Belong to the Sky." The track comes from his upcoming i/o album, which does not yet have a release date.

The seven-minute song appeared on Tuesday, timed to a strawberry full moon. It features burbling synths, saxophone, and backing vocals.

Gabriel said the track began with a timpani tom-tom pattern inspired by the film Jazz on a Summer’s Day and drummer Chico Hamilton. He praised drummer Manu Katché’s contributions and noted the song nearly appeared on his 2023 album i/o.

The Dark-Side Mix is scheduled for release on the next new moon, July 14. Gabriel has been issuing tracks from i/o throughout 2026, starting with "Been Undone (Dark-Side Mix)" on Jan. 3.
