Pier at Skarholmen ready for use

Uppsala Municipality has completed a 100-metre pier and new park area at Skarholmen. The site is now open for the public to enjoy the summer.

The new pier consists of a fixed piled section and a floating section connected by a gangway. It will remain in place year-round and can be used for both summer and winter activities.

Around the pier the municipality has created a park area with a grill site, benches, bike stands, plantings, disabled parking and a dry toilet. A food truck will operate on site during sunny summer days.

Skarholmen will be developed with more housing and a hotel in the coming years. The aim is to make Lake Mälaren more accessible to Uppsala residents and visitors. Local associations and businesses, especially boat clubs, are to play a central role in the development.
