Police in Chennai seized ₹50 lakh in unaccounted cash from a car parked suspiciously near Vepery on Friday night. A team acted on a tip-off received by the Vepery Inspector about a Puducherry-registered vehicle stationed on Gopal Street in Choolai, conducting a check around 8.30 pm.
The occupants were identified as Aswanth, 34, a manager at Accord Distilleries Private Limited in T. Nagar, and Kurumban, 31, an office staff member at the same firm. Both individuals are under questioning for valid documentation, according to police sources.
The cash was found unaccounted for, amid checks possibly linked to Tamil Nadu elections. Investigations continue as authorities probe the circumstances.
