The Institutional Revolutionary Party won all 16 districts in the Coahuila Congress elections held on June 7, 2026. Antonio Attolini, MORENA candidate for District 9 in Torreón, publicly conceded defeat to PRI's Verónica Martínez García.
According to the Preliminary Electoral Results Program with 100 percent of the tally sheets captured by 7:00 a.m. on Monday, June 8, the PRI obtained 50.9 percent of the votes. MORENA placed second with 22.5 percent. Attolini posted a video on social media accepting the results and quoting former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador: “There is nothing more obradorista than rising from a defeat”. MORENA's national leadership denounced alleged vote buying through QR codes and the detention of 200 militants. President Claudia Sheinbaum called for the complaints to follow the corresponding legal procedures. The PAN, Movimiento Ciudadano and the Ecologist Green Party of Mexico failed to reach 3 percent of the votes and could lose their state registration. The official count is scheduled for Wednesday.
