Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Dr.) inaugurated the Borana Cultural Center in Yabelo town. The center will play a key role in passing Borana culture, history and philosophy to future generations.
The prime minister said during the inauguration that Borana is a great people of the world. He also recalled that Borana had reached its 47th Abba Gada when America began implementing democracy and had administered by dividing work responsibilities for 300 years under the Gada system.
In his message he stated that Borana believes in sharing what it has and is the founder of democracy. The center is built on 57.6 hectares of land.
It includes a meeting hall that can accommodate up to 2,000 people at once and a heritage museum. The foundation stone was laid in 2013 by First Lady Zinash Tayachew. The prime minister noted that this culture should grow in all parts of the country.
