Red Bull confirms Tom Hart as Verstappen's next race engineer

Red Bull has named Tom Hart to succeed Gianpiero Lambiase as Max Verstappen's Formula 1 race engineer. The move keeps Hart within the team after initial plans for him to join Williams.

Red Bull confirmed that Hart will take over Lambiase's role. The British engineer previously served as Verstappen's performance engineer and has covered both cars this season.

Lambiase is set to join McLaren in 2028 as chief racing officer. Hart is expected to begin as race engineer at the start of 2027 and will stand in for Lambiase during the second half of this season.

Hart had been set to become Alex Albon's race engineer at Williams. Red Bull asked Williams to reverse the transfer and reached an agreement to retain him. The exact start date depends on when Lambiase's duties at Red Bull end.

Team boss Laurent Mekies had hinted at the development during the Austrian Grand Prix. Hart recently gained experience in the role during Isack Hadjar's filming day at Silverstone.
