Speaking on NPR, the California Democrat and ranking member of the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition Between the U.S. and China outlined several priorities for the talks with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. He said the president must insist China resume buying American soybeans, which it has largely stopped in favor of supplies from Brazil and Argentina, to reduce the trade deficit and support U.S. farmers facing high fertilizer costs tied to the war in Iran.
