Simone Rocha presented her debut all-menswear collection on Wednesday evening in Florence. The show took place at the Teatro della Pergola as part of Pitti.
Rocha drew inspiration from E.M. Forster’s novel A Room with a View and its 1985 film adaptation. She described the experience of preparing the collection in Florence as exciting and expressed gratitude to Pitti for the invitation.
The presentation featured ruffled rugby jerseys, long-hemmed shirting, Gladstone bags and super-wide Oxford bag pants. Models also wore lilac-stained organza feather boas and carried bouquets of locally picked cornflowers.
Rocha emphasized tenderness as a key quality in her menswear designs. The collection mixed British Isles references with elements of craft such as leather aprons and embroidered cravats.
