A South Carolina man faces federal charges after allegedly posting threats against President Donald Trump on X last year. John Alexander Bellue was indicted on May 19 for threatening the president's life.
Federal prosecutors say Bellue, from Rock Hill, wrote on X on September 7, 2025, that he planned to kill Trump in the most brutal way possible. The post read in part, “@realDonaldTrump you have the right to remain silent. I'm gonna kill you in the most brutal way possible.” At the time, Trump was attending the U.S. Open in New York City.
