Flyhalf Vusi Moyo will make his Test debut for South Africa when the Springboks face Wales in the third round of the Nations Championship in Durban on Saturday.
Coach Rassie Erasmus has named four uncapped players in the starting lineup. Moyo is joined by wing Jaco Williams, lock Ruben van Heerden and prop Carlu Sadie.
Erasmus described Moyo as a calm and strong player who impressed during a recent appearance against the Barbarians. The 20-year-old has prior experience with the Sharks in the Currie Cup and United Rugby Championship.
The Springboks have included several experienced players to support the newcomers. Malcolm Marx returns at hooker, Pieter-Steph du Toit captains the side at flank and Cobus Reinach starts at scrumhalf.
Erasmus said the squad offers an exciting mix of youth and experience. He noted that Wales have shown improvement in recent matches and will pose a challenge.
