Prospects impressed scouts with power and velocity on the first day of the 2026 MLB Draft Combine at Chase Field. High school and college players posted standout exit velocities and fastball readings during batting practice and bullpen sessions on Tuesday.
Caden Bogenpohl of Missouri State hit the two hardest balls of the day at 119.4 mph and 115.7 mph. Peyton Bonds from Rutgers and Blake Bowen from JSerra HS also recorded multiple exit velocities over 100 mph.
Rintaro Sasaki from Stanford posted the highest exit velocity of the early session at 115.4 mph along with two of the four longest homers at 458 feet and 434 feet. "That was a great experience for me," Sasaki said. "It was a great moment. I just tried to hit [it over] the wall, hit it far away and hit it hard."
Pitchers also turned heads. Ethan Wachsmann from Grandview HS touched 100 mph twice while Tyler Putnam from Battle HS reached 99 mph. Dylan Vigue from Georgia showed high spin rates on his sinker and sweeper.
Other standouts included Trevor Condon from Etowah HS, Mulivai Levu from UCLA, Rocco Maniscalco from Oxford HS and Aiden Ruiz from The Stony Brook School.
