Swatch has released a new limited-edition MoonSwatch called Mission To The Moon 1969. The watch draws inspiration from the Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 and features recycled Moonshine Gold. Only 1,969 pieces will be available through an online application process.
The release coincided with the 1969 Apollo 11 launch time on July 16. Swatch used 11 grams of 18K Moonshine Gold recycled from Omega spare parts for the dial, crown, and pushers. The Bioceramic case includes a gold tachymeter scale and unique numbering from 1 to 1969.
Applications opened July 16 at 15:32 CEST via an Electronic Swatch Timepiece Application form and run until July 21 at 23:59 CEST. Approved buyers will receive instructions to purchase the watch for CHF 500 at a Swatch boutique.
The model comes with a black rubber strap and shares the same dimensions as prior MoonSwatch versions. Swatch reported heavy website traffic during the launch window.
