Watches from the collection of Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin are set for auction at Sotheby's today. The sale includes four Omega Speedmaster models along with other timepieces from the Buzz Aldrin Family Trust.
The live auction begins at 10:00 EDT on July 15. Lots feature an Omega Speedmaster Professional 3590.50.00 estimated at US$8,000–12,000 and a Moonshine Gold model 310.60.42.50.99.002 valued between US$40,000 and US$60,000.
Two additional Speedmasters are also offered. The HB-SIA Solar Impulse reference 321.90.44.52.01.001 carries an estimate of US$6,000–9,000, while the X-33 Gen 2 NASA reference 318.90.45.79.01.001 has a presale range of US$4,000–6,000 with current bids already at US$13,000.
Four of the Omega watches include signed provenance documents confirming they belonged to Aldrin. The auction forms part of Sotheby's Space Exploration sale.
