Sweden is preparing a donation of several Jas 39 C/D fighter jets to Ukraine, according to information received by Aftonbladet.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has called a press conference tomorrow at Upplands flygflottilj in Uppsala. There a news item linked to international aviation cooperation will be presented.
According to the information, the government will announce the donation of Gripen C/D planes. At the same time, negotiations will begin on the sale of more modern Gripen E planes, which Ukraine will pay for with EU loans.
Last year Sweden and Ukraine signed a letter of intent that could lead to a deal for 100–150 planes. Hungary lifted its veto this year on the disbursement of 90 billion euros in EU loans to Ukraine.
