Teyana Taylor will be honored as the BET Icon of the Year at the 2026 BET Awards. The network announced the honor on June 9. The awards show is scheduled to air live on June 28 from Los Angeles.
Teyana Taylor has been selected for the 2026 Icon of the Year award by BET. The honor recognizes artists whose creative work has shaped entertainment and culture. Connie Orlando, EVP of specials, music programming and music strategy at BET, praised Taylor in a statement. She described Taylor as someone who builds her own space in the industry and influences culture broadly. Taylor began her career as a dancer and choreographer in the mid-2000s. She has released four studio albums, with her 2025 release Escape Room earning a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album. She also received an Academy Award nomination for her role in the 2025 film One Battle After Another. The BET Awards 2026 will be hosted by Druski and broadcast live at 8 p.m. ET/PT from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
