Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is projected to earn $17.5 million on its first Monday, marking the best Monday performance of 2026 so far. The figure surpasses Toy Story 5's $17.3 million from June 22. Domestic totals through four days reached $141 million.
The film opened with a three-day domestic gross of $123.5 million and an international haul of $140.2 million, for a global debut of $263.7 million. This marks the strongest worldwide opening of Nolan's career, ahead of The Dark Knight Rises.
IMAX screenings accounted for more than 50 percent of the opening weekend receipts. The audience was about 55 percent male, with half of viewers aged 18 to 34.
Demand for IMAX 70mm tickets has been intense in New York City, where the sole screen at AMC Lincoln Square 13 sold out all showtimes through August 12. Scalpers have listed $33 tickets on eBay with bids starting at $69 and reaching as high as $1,200 for pairs.
