Train traffic halted after lightning strikes tree

Train services between Malmö and Stockholm are affected after lightning struck a tree in Tormestorp.

Trains between Hässleholm and Sösdala were stopped shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. A section of the tree had come to rest across the power lines, according to Johan Enger, alarm operator at the rescue services.

Trafikverket initially estimated that traffic would resume in the evening. The current forecast is that services will restart at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

SMHI has issued a yellow warning for wind with very strong gusts covering large parts of Skåne until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Several trees have fallen across roads in Skåne and Blekinge.
