Mexico's Secretariat for Anticorruption and Good Government banned two suppliers to the Navy for four months and fined them 236,527 pesos for failing a contract. The sanctions were published on April 14, 2026, in the Official Gazette of the Federation. They also apply to representatives Anakaren García Sifuentes and Luis Aguirre León.
The Secretariat for Anticorruption and Good Government, led by Raquel Buenrostro, notified the companies on January 27, 2026, of breaching contract D.G.ADMÓN.SAE-291/F/2022, awarded by the Secretariat of the Navy for over 325 million pesos.
The contract called for supplying non-lethal anti-riot gear to the Military Police, including 2.8 million rounds of tear gas projectiles, capsaicin irritant gas, smoke munitions, and marking munitions. The sanctions list the firms in the Directory of Sanctioned Providers and Contractors, barring them from new Mexican government contracts.
The companies and their representatives can challenge the ruling, but the secretariat will defend it "with firmness," stating it was imposed "in accordance with the law and to protect the public interest." The ban may extend if the fine goes unpaid, and federal, state, and municipal bodies are urged to avoid deals with them, without impacting ongoing contracts.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to legality in public procurement and warned that "breaching public contracts has consequences," as part of efforts to prevent frauds and ensure sound public finances.
