Ferrari Formula 1 team principal Fred Vasseur has dismissed suggestions that the team is challenging for the world championships following recent victories.
Vasseur emphasized a steady approach after Ferrari secured wins in the Spanish and British Grands Prix. He noted the team's strong results at Barcelona with Lewis Hamilton and at Silverstone with Charles Leclerc but stressed that conclusions should not be drawn from isolated races.
"After Barcelona, I had the comment 'Ah, Ferrari is back in the championship'. I said no," Vasseur said. "The week after you told me Ferrari is nowhere. I said no." He added that the focus must remain on the next event at Spa.
Ferrari trails Mercedes by 78 points in the Constructors' Championship, while Hamilton sits 32 points behind Kimi Antonelli in the Drivers' Standings. Vasseur acknowledged Mercedes still holds a performance edge but said the team will build through incremental gains.
