Barcelona captain Alexia Putellas announced today that she is leaving the club after 14 seasons and more than 500 matches. The two-time Ballon d'Or winner will officially say goodbye tomorrow at an event in the Spotify Camp Nou.
Putellas explained in a video posted on her social media that it has been a difficult decision after a season in which Barcelona, coached by Pere Romeu, achieved four titles, including the Champions League won on Saturday in Oslo against Olympique de Lyon.
The 32-year-old player noted she wanted to wait to announce her future until after the title celebrations. She stated that the fourteen seasons and more than 500 matches will remain forever in the memory of the club and in her heart.
The farewell will be made official this Wednesday, May 27 at 11:00 a.m. in the Spotify Camp Nou, before the team's final league match against Real Sociedad.
