Amazon Lands Rights to Ali Hazelwood Novel Love, Theoretically

Amazon MGM Studios has acquired the film rights to Ali Hazelwood’s New York Times bestselling novel Love, Theoretically. Colleen Hoover will produce through her Heartbones Entertainment banner, with Sofia Alvarez set to direct and adapt the screenplay.

The project centers on rival physicists entangled in academic rivalries and false identities. Alvarez, known for her work on the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before films, will also serve as executive producer alongside Hazelwood.

Max Siemers and Tanner Anderson of Magic Hour Entertainment join Hoover and her partner Lauren Levine as producers. This marks a reunion for Siemers and Alvarez, who previously collaborated on the first two installments of the To All the Boys trilogy.

The announcement precedes the September 23 Prime Video debut of Hazelwood’s The Love Hypothesis adaptation, starring Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman. Heartbones Entertainment is also producing the upcoming Verity film for Amazon MGM Studios, scheduled for theatrical release on October 2.
