Anna Calvi shares Matt Berninger collaboration on new EP

Anna Calvi has released the title track from her upcoming EP, 'Is This All There Is?', featuring Matt Berninger of The National. The song, originally written for Joanna Hogg’s The Souvenir Part II, explores themes of hope and existential questions. The EP, due out on March 20, includes contributions from Laurie Anderson, Iggy Pop and Perfume Genius.

Anna Calvi has unveiled 'Is This All There Is?', a new collaboration with Matt Berninger, as the title track of her forthcoming EP of the same name. The EP is scheduled for release on Friday, March 20, and can be pre-ordered now. It follows the earlier release of 'God’s Lonely Man' from the record, which features Berninger, Laurie Anderson, Iggy Pop and Perfume Genius. The title track was originally composed for Joanna Hogg’s film The Souvenir Part II but remained unreleased until Calvi invited Berninger to contribute a new version. Calvi described the song: “This song is about the bravery it takes to hope. It’s the willingness to ask questions, even when knowing you’ll never get a definitive answer.” She praised Berninger’s contribution: “The tone of Matt’s voice has such an epic, almost ancient quality to it, which felt perfect for a song asking such a big existential question. We’re both searching for answers together, and yet somehow always apart, which I find beautiful. He brings an intimacy to the song that I couldn’t have imagined.” The EP also features Calvi’s reimagining of Kraftwerk’s ‘Computer Love’ with Anderson and a revisit of her cover of Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy’s ‘I See A Darkness’, with Perfume Genius. Calvi has spoken about the inspiration from her collaborators: “The opportunity to be in the same space as people you love is so inspiring. To see how different people approach the same thing – it sharpens you. It’s thrilling. They share a kind of subversive honesty. They’re not trying to please anyone. They express exactly who they are.” Recently, Calvi contributed to the charity album ‘Help(2)’, produced by James Ford and recorded at Abbey Road Studios in November 2025, alongside artists including Arctic Monkeys and Beck. She previously scored the fifth and sixth seasons of Peaky Blinders.
