Apple and Netflix have announced a partnership to share Formula 1 programming in the US, including the Canadian Grand Prix and season eight of Drive to Survive. The collaboration aims to expand access to F1 content ahead of the 2026 season. Apple TV subscribers will stream the series starting February 27, while Netflix will air the May Grand Prix.
Apple has entered a partnership with Netflix to broaden the reach of Formula 1 content in the United States. Under the deal, Netflix will stream the F1 Canadian Grand Prix from May 22 to May 24, alongside Apple TV. In return, both platforms will air season eight of the Netflix docuseries Drive to Survive, premiering at midnight PT on February 27, 2026. The series, which follows F1 drivers and teams, will be available to Apple TV subscribers in the US only and spotlights the lead-up to the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. It previously exceeded 10 million views in the first half of 2025 on Netflix alone, establishing it as a top performer in the docuseries category with its behind-the-scenes style of coverage on and off the track. The partnership comes as Apple launches its exclusive five-year deal with Formula 1 to broadcast races starting in 2026, valued at around $150 million per year. Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of services, stated that Netflix 'has played a pivotal role in growing F1 since the launch of Drive to Survive, and we're thrilled to make F1 content more broadly available to new and existing US fans.' This initiative is part of Apple's efforts to expand the sport's audience, including deals with IMAX for theater simulcasts, and access for platforms like Tubi, Comcast, DirecTV, and Amazon Prime Video to select content. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali commented on the Apple relationship, saying it 'will allow us to enter in the houses of other people in a different way, in great quality that is very important for us. So, that is what I believe the Apple relationship will bring to us in the American market.' The 2026 F1 season begins with the Australian Grand Prix on March 6-8.
