The animal and environmental protection group ARDE has reported a pig farm in Castellote (Teruel) to the Teruel Provincial Prosecutor's Office. Footage taken between October 30 and November 2-3, 2025, as well as February 24-25, 2026, shows severe conditions inside the facilities. According to the images accessed by elDiario.es, animals have wounds from cannibalism, dying pigs without adequate veterinary care, dirt, hernias and abscesses. There is also poor cadaver management, with remains accumulated in contact with live pigs, and live mice present. The farm works with companies certified in animal welfare, as noted by the outlet. ARDE alleges crimes of animal mistreatment, risks to public health and misleading advertising. An associated company has received nearly two million euros in subsidies. These findings come amid discussions on large-scale farms in Aragón, though the focus remains on this specific complaint.
