Aston Villa and Brighton claim Premier League victories

Aston Villa secured a 1-0 win over Wolves at Villa Park, while Brighton ended a two-month away win drought with a 2-0 victory at Nottingham Forest. Both matches took place on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.

In the first of Sunday's 14:05 GMT kick-offs, Aston Villa edged out Wolves 1-0 at Villa Park. Unai Emery's side dominated possession and created the better chances but had to wait until the second half for the breakthrough. Boubacar Kamara scored the decisive goal with a controlled strike from outside the box after John McGinn worked the ball to him. Villa's early pressure nearly paid off when Moller Wolfe sliced a clearance onto the crossbar. Morgan Rogers and Matty Cash forced saves from Sam Johnstone, while Wolves threatened occasionally, with Emiliano Martínez denying Strand Larsen and Yerson Mosquera heading against the woodwork. Late on, Joao Gomes drew a strong save from Martínez, but Villa held firm through nine minutes of stoppage time to extend their hot streak.

At the City Ground, Brighton claimed a composed 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest, their first away victory in two months. The Seagulls started brightly, with Yankuba Minteh and Georginio Rutter missing early chances. Forest cleared twice off the line as Brighton controlled territory, though Morgan Gibbs-White volleyed narrowly wide for the hosts. The opener came just before half-time when Bart Verbruggen's long ball released Minteh, leading to a combination with Rutter that set up Maxim De Cuyper for a first-time finish inside the area—his second goal for the club. After the break, Forest improved and pressured, with Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ben Brereton Diaz forcing defensive work. Brighton countered effectively, Diego Gomez denied by Matz Sels. The second goal arrived two minutes from time: Morato's short back-header was intercepted by Jack Hinshelwood, colliding with Sels, allowing Stefanos Tzimas to roll in the rebound and secure fifth place for Brighton.
