Auger-Aliassime eliminates Zverev and will face Alcaraz in semifinals

Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated Alexander Zverev 6-4, 7-6(4) to advance to the ATP Finals semifinals in Turin. The Canadian will face Carlos Alcaraz on Saturday at 20.30. Jannik Sinner, undefeated in the group stage, will play Alex de Minaur in the first match.

At the ATP Finals in Turin, Felix Auger-Aliassime upset a weakened Alexander Zverev, defeating the German 6-4, 7-6(4) in 2 hours and 7 minutes. The Canadian, showing good form despite general fatigue in the tournament, dedicated his win to the crowd: “I feel blessed”. This victory sets up a semifinal clash with Carlos Alcaraz on Saturday at 20.30 on Movistar+.

The head-to-head between Alcaraz and Auger-Aliassime is even at 4-3 in favor of the Spaniard, who has won the last four meetings. Alcaraz, set to receive the year-end No.1 trophy, arrives motivated after triumphs at Roland Garros and the US Open. His sparring partner, Pedro Vives, a 24-year-old former generation teammate ranked 463, prepares him at Inalpi Arena. Vives recalls: “Carlitos is two years younger than me, but we had seen each other in Rafa Nadal Tour tournaments... He was always very good, but at 15 he had a big physical change”.

Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner completed the group stage undefeated by beating Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6(3), tallying 29 consecutive indoor wins, matching Roger Federer's streak from 2010 to 2012. The Italian, title defender and Australian Open and Wimbledon champion, will face Alex de Minaur on Saturday at 14.30. Alcaraz praised Sinner: “He deserves it because he has had an incredible season... He has won two majors and eight tournaments... I'm happy for him, though if I said I was content, I'd be lying”. Alcaraz will start 2026 as No.1.
