Banks in Ranchi and Patna closed for Chhath Puja today

October 28, 2025, marks the fourth and final day of Chhath Puja, known as Usha Arghya. Banks in Ranchi and Patna will remain closed for the festival, while those in other regions will operate as usual. The ritual concludes the 36-hour fast with offerings to the rising sun.

The fourth day of Chhath Puja, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, concludes with Usha Arghya, the festival's most significant ritual. According to the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) 2025 holiday calendar, public and private banks in Ranchi, Jharkhand, and Patna, Bihar, will close for Chhath Puja (Morning Puja). Banks in all other cities will remain open and operational as usual.

October 2025 saw 21 official bank holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, including RTGS holidays, regional and national observances, plus mandatory weekly closures on the second Saturday and Sundays. Despite branch closures in Ranchi and Patna, essential financial services will continue via digital and self-service channels.

These include online and mobile banking for fund transfers, balance inquiries, and bill payments; NEFT and RTGS services (per operational hours); ATM withdrawals and card transactions; and online requests for chequebooks, demand drafts, and account services. Customers are advised to schedule in-branch visits around the holiday and rely on online banking for seamless access.
