Overview
Two months after its launch, Battlefield 6 continues to attract over 140,000 daily players on Steam, with additional users on consoles. Developer Battlefield Studios released the Winter Offensive update, version 1.1.3.0, on December 9, 2025, bringing seasonal content to the multiplayer and RedSec Battle Royale modes. This time-limited event focuses on a winter makeover for the Empire State map and introduces gameplay tweaks based on player feedback.
New Content
The update features the Ice Lock Empire State, a frozen version of the original map with seasonal visuals like icy streets. A new event mode incorporates the "Freeze" mechanic and is playable in Domination, Conquest, and Gauntlet variations on this map. Players can unlock the Ice Climbing Axe melee weapon through the 11-tier Winter Offensive Bonus Path in the Battle Pass, which also offers event cosmetics and XP boosters.
Portal mode now supports the Ice Lock Empire State during the event window, allowing custom experiences.
Gameplay Improvements
Patch notes highlight enhancements to hit registration for more predictable bullet impacts in fast-paced scenarios, such as quick aims and close-quarters combat. Soldier visibility has been improved with better highlights and prone animations in busy environments. Weapon handling is more consistent, fixing issues with recoil and attachments.
Core gadgets like the LWCMS Portable Mortar, Supply Pouch, and Smoke Cover receive reliability updates. Vehicle interactions are stabilized, addressing damage zones and camera behaviors. Maps for Breakthrough and Rush modes have been adjusted for better balance, vehicle distribution, and flow. An audio overhaul improves footsteps, movement cues, and armor-break feedback for clearer combat audio.
