Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness stated that the club will not sell Michael Olise to Liverpool, regardless of a potential €200 million bid. Speaking to reporters at the KI Festival “data:unplugged”, Hoeness said, “Liverpool have already spent €500 million this year and are having a very poor season. We won’t contribute to them playing better next year.” He added, “We play this game for our fans. We have 430,000 members, we have millions of fans worldwide, and it doesn’t help them much if we have €200m in the bank but play worse football every Saturday because of it.” Liverpool sit fifth in the Premier League, with qualification for next season's Champions League uncertain. The club invested heavily last summer, spending £446 million on transfers including £125 million for Alexander Isak from Newcastle United, £100 million for Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, and a fee potentially rising to £82 million for Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. While Ekitike has performed well, Wirtz has had an inconsistent season, and Isak has been sidelined by injuries since December. Olise, who joined Bayern from Crystal Palace in 2024, has been key to their strong campaign. He has recorded 28 goal involvements in the Bundesliga (11 goals, 17 assists), eight in the Champions League (three goals, five assists), and three in the DFB-Pokal (two goals, one assist). Bayern lead the Bundesliga and are favorites for the Champions League title while reaching the DFB-Pokal semifinals, positioning them for a possible treble. Reports suggest Liverpool see the 24-year-old as a successor to Mohamed Salah, who will depart at season's end after 19 goal involvements this year, down from a Premier League record 47 last season. Olise previously notched 29 goal involvements in his final two Premier League seasons with Crystal Palace.
