Beijing-based high-school teacher Jiang Xueqin may not appear as an obvious geopolitical prophet, dressed casually in a polo shirt as a greying Chinese-Canadian.

Yet through his hugely popular Predictive History YouTube channel, he has become known as “China’s Nostradamus” for his outlook on world affairs. He is best known for three “big predictions” made in May 2024, when Joe Biden was still US president, including Donald Trump’s election win and a war with Iran.

While most fans are outside China, his lectures and interviews have been translated and uploaded on Chinese social media sites, prompting a range of discussions about his programmes and perspectives. Some of his ideas veer into conspiracy theory, as noted in keywords like Illuminati.

South China Morning Post describes him as unassuming but influential in forecasting global events.
