BIK Karlskoga has signed defenseman Lucas Ölvestad, who joins from the NCAA after five seasons in US college hockey. The player previously represented Djurgårdens IF at youth level. He recorded 14 points in 36 games last season as team captain.
BIK Karlskoga announced the signing of back Lucas Ölvestad on Tuesday. The move brings the son of Jimmie Ölvestad back to Swedish hockey after time abroad. Ölvestad spent the past five seasons playing for University of Denver and University of Massachusetts in the NCAA. In his most recent season at University of Massachusetts, he served as team captain and tallied 14 points, including five goals and nine assists, over 36 matches. Sportchef Torsten Yngveson commented to the club's website on Ölvestad's strengths: “Lucas har en stark säsong i ryggen. Earlier in his career, Ölvestad played for Djurgårdens IF on youth teams.
