Following his December 25 surgery—his eighth since a 2018 stabbing—Bolsonaro's medical team reported progress in a Friday evening bulletin. Rehabilitation now includes physiotherapy, alongside thrombosis prevention and adjustments to medications for hiccups and gastroesophageal reflux. Hiccup intervention needs will be reassessed soon.
The bilateral inguinal hernia involved intestinal protrusion on the right and fat projection on the left, corrected via synthetic mesh under general anesthesia. Bolsonaro, convicted in September for coup-related crimes, remains hospitalized for about a week under 24/7 STF-ordered Federal Police guard before returning to custody.
