Bosse-de-Nage announce first album in eight years

San Francisco post-black metal band Bosse-de-Nage has revealed details of their new full-length album, Hidden Fires Burn Hottest, set for release on March 6, 2026, via The Flenser. The announcement coincides with the debut of lead single No Such Place. This marks the band's return after an eight-year gap since their previous record.

Bosse-de-Nage, a post-black metal outfit from San Francisco, ended an eight-year hiatus from full-length albums with the announcement of Hidden Fires Burn Hottest. Scheduled for March 6, 2026, through longtime label The Flenser, the record represents a continuation of the band's partnership with the imprint.

The lead single, No Such Place, is now available and signals a musical evolution. The track emphasizes atmosphere and emotional tension, with aggression taking a backseat to broader dynamics. Development of the album spanned several years, with initial concepts originating in 2018. Recording occurred at Atomic Garden East under producer Jack Shirley, while Richard Chowenhill from Agriculture managed mixing and mastering.

Vocalist Bryan Manning adopted a new approach by penning all lyrics prior to sessions, allowing greater flexibility in composition. Departing from the structured style of their prior album Further Still, the band embraced a more open framework. This results in songs that incorporate breathing room, balancing quieter interludes with intense segments. Among the tracks is Mementos, described by the band as their inaugural love song.

Rather than adhering to a unified narrative, Hidden Fires Burn Hottest draws from individual emotions and personal histories. The band intends for listeners to interpret these elements intuitively, without explicit guidance. The full tracklist includes: Where to Now?, Mementos, In the Name of the Moth, With a Shrug, No Such Place, Triangular Dream, Underwater, Frenzy, Immortality Project, and Leviathan.
