Brasília Basquete secured a dominant away win against Rio Claro, 78-60, on Friday (Jan. 9), in their first game of the year in the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB). The team from the Federal District solidified their fifth place in the standings, with 15 wins in 20 games. Standouts were Von Haydin and Brunão, who shone with impressive stats.
Brasília Basquete returned to the court in full force in the NBB, defeating Rio Claro 78-60 in a match played on Friday (Jan. 9), away from home. The game, marked by many fouls from the São Paulo side, saw the Federal District team dominate from the second quarter onward, solidifying their fifth place in the competition with 15 wins in 20 games.
Ala Von Haydin was the standout for the Brasília team, scoring 21 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Pivot Brunão also excelled, achieving a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. These stats helped Brasília build a comfortable lead throughout the game.
In the first quarter, Rio Claro started stronger, capitalizing on early errors by the visitors to lead 20-18. However, Brasília recovered in the second period with organized defense and strong offensive play, winning the quarter 29-6 and heading into halftime with a 47-26 score.
The third quarter saw Brasília maintain dominance early, but Rio Claro fought back in the final stretch, winning 17-13. Still, the DF team controlled the pace. In the final quarter, Brasília extended the lead with 18-17, sealing the 78-60 victory.
This was Brasília's first game of the year, as they prepare for their home debut on Monday (Jan. 12) against Caxias do Sul at 8:15 p.m., at Ginásio Nilson Nelson.
