Cadillac unveils Stars and Stripes livery for British Grand Prix

The Cadillac Formula 1 team has introduced a special red, white and blue livery to celebrate 250 years of American independence at this weekend's British Grand Prix.

The team will run the new design on both cars at Silverstone, where sprint qualifying and the race are scheduled for 4 July. The updated MAC-26 features full Stars and Stripes graphics on the front wing and engine cover, replacing the usual monochrome scheme.

Cadillac, which debuted in Formula 1 at the Australian Grand Prix earlier this year, joins McLaren and Williams in adopting a special look for the event. The livery will also appear on team clothing, helmets and garage areas throughout the weekend.

Dan Towriss, CEO of Cadillac Formula 1 Team Holdings, said the timing offered a chance to represent the United States and introduce new fans to the sport. Driver Sergio Perez noted the expected high temperatures and expressed hope of giving American supporters extra cause to celebrate on 4 July.
