Former Goiás governor and presidential hopeful Ronaldo Caiado visited Belo Horizonte on Monday (1/6) and said he will step up his pre-campaign in Minas Gerais.
Caiado held a press conference in the Minas capital after events in cities including Muriaé, São Sebastião do Paraíso, Guaxupé, Uberlândia and Uberaba. He announced plans to proceed to Governador Valadares and other locations, noting the challenge of covering the state’s 853 municipalities.
The PSD pre-candidate said Silvia Abravanel is a “strong name” for a possible presidential ticket because of her communication skills. He indicated that decisions on the running mate would follow a meeting next week. Silvia Abravanel, who joined the PSD in March, stated she remains focused on her pre-candidacy for federal deputy.
In Lisbon, PSD national president Gilberto Kassab affirmed at the Fórum de Lisboa that the party will present Ronaldo Caiado as its presidential candidate. Kassab advocated mixed-member proportional voting, greater transparency across government branches and reform of parliamentary amendments. Caiado denied any talks about running as vice on a ticket headed by Romeu Zema.
