The National Chamber of Passenger and Tourism Road Transport (Canapat) has ratified Luis Antonio Zaldívar Sánchez as its president for the 2026-2027 period during its XXXVI Ordinary General Assembly. The event highlighted the chamber's recent achievements and outlined key priorities for the upcoming term. Federal authorities attended the session.
During Canapat's XXXVI Ordinary General Assembly, held recently, Luis Antonio Zaldívar Sánchez was ratified as president for the 2026-2027 period. The session was presided over by Zaldívar himself, alongside key executives including José Arturo Pinto Aguilar, vice president of the Executive Secretariat; Aldo Alarcón Vargas, vice president of Finance and Treasurer; and Aureliano Baca Baños, vice president of the Comptroller's Office.
Zaldívar presented a balance of the chamber's activities over the past year, emphasizing ongoing monitoring and meetings with government authorities at various levels, as well as participation in international forums on mobility and tourism. He also acknowledged the work of regional delegations across the country, which have established best practices to strengthen passenger road transport operations.
The assembly featured the organization's financial report and an analysis of the regulatory environment impacting the industry, reiterating the need for continuous technical dialogue with authorities to create conditions for orderly sector development.
For the new period, Canapat outlined its institutional agenda, focusing on enhancing operational security, boosting competitiveness and productivity, continuously improving service quality and user experience, and modernizing fleets. It also plans to strengthen human capital through professionalization and training processes for affiliated companies.
In accordance with the statutes, a vote was held to form the National Directive Council, ratifying Zaldívar as president, supported by Sergio Enrique Rodríguez Herrera as vice president of the Executive Secretariat, along with Alarcón Vargas in Finance and Baca Baños in the Comptroller's Office.
The assembly was attended by representatives from the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT), including Luis Ruiz Hernández, director general of Federal Road Transport, and Paulino Ismael Herrera Manzano, executive director of Supervision. Ruiz Hernández administered the oath to the new council, marking the beginning of a new institutional phase.
With this ratification, Canapat reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with authorities, affiliated companies, and sector stakeholders to promote safer, more efficient passenger mobility with a forward-looking vision in Mexico.
