Chivas defeats Atlas 4-1 in Liga MX Clásico Tapatío

Club Deportivo Guadalajara beat Atlas F.C. 4-1 in the Jornada 15 Clásico Tapatío of the Apertura 2025, held at Estadio Akron. Armando 'Hormiga' González shone with a hat-trick, while Atlas managed only a consolation goal. The win places Chivas sixth and marks their third straight victory.

The Clásico Tapatío took place this Saturday at Estadio Akron in Guadalajara, starting at 19:07 hours. Chivas, arriving in eighth place with 20 points after a 0-1 loss to Querétaro in Jornada 14, aimed to regain ground for the Liguilla. Atlas, eleventh with 16 points following a 2-0 win over León, needed points for the Play-In.

The match started with local dominance: at minute 9, Armando 'Hormiga' González headed in the 1-0 opener. At 26, Luis Romo extended the lead from inside the area, and two minutes later, at 28, González scored his brace with another header, making it 3-0 at halftime.

In the second half, González completed his hat-trick at minute 50, pushing the score to 4-0. Atlas responded at 62 when Mateo García dodged goalkeeper 'Tala' Rangel and scored inside the area, but could do no more. The Chivas youth product González was pivotal in the win, placing Guadalajara sixth in the general table.

However, the buildup to the match included a tragic incident: a serenata for Chivas resulted in one fan dead and two injured after a confrontation. With this result, Guadalajara adds three points and eyes the postseason.
