CIB named Egypt's Bank of the Year 2025 as factoring portfolio grows

Commercial International Bank (CIB) has won The Banker’s Bank of the Year 2025 award for Egypt, recognized for the swift growth of its factoring subsidiary and expanded sustainable lending to small and medium-sized enterprises. The bank's factoring arm, Commercial International Finance Company (CIFC), reached a portfolio over EGP 4 billion by June 2025. This milestone follows CIFC's launch in early 2024.

The Banker magazine has awarded Commercial International Bank (CIB) the title of Bank of the Year 2025 for Egypt, highlighting the rapid expansion of its fully owned factoring subsidiary, Commercial International Finance Company (CIFC), and the extension of sustainable lending to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Launched in early 2024, CIFC achieved a portfolio surpassing EGP 4 billion ($84.4 million) by the end of June 2025, with outstanding balances of EGP 2.1 billion. The subsidiary plans to grow its operations via integrated supply chain management solutions.

In July 2024, CIB rolled out a Sustainable Finance Loan to aid SMEs in the textile, plastic, and food and beverage sectors. Developed in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Frankfurt Business School, the product helps clients upgrade fixed assets and invest in renewable energy and resource efficiency.

Additionally, in November 2024, the bank entered a credit risk guarantee agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), covering 50 percent of the risk on a €50 million SME loan portfolio.

“This prestigious accolade underscores our commitment to sustainable finance, digital transformation and innovative customer-centric solutions,” said Islam Zekry, group chief financial officer and executive board member.
