Club El Nogal opens exhibition with works by Édgar Negret

The Club El Nogal opens today an exhibition with 50 to 60 works by sculptor Édgar Negret. The show, curated by Christian Padilla, traces the artist's career from his beginnings to his best-known series.

The exhibition opens this Friday, July 24, at 7:00 p.m. in the Galería El Nogal. It includes pieces from the Museo Negret in Bogotá and the club's collection, covering stages in Colombia, Paris and New York.

The works highlight Negret's "Aparatos mágicos" and his influences from pre-Hispanic cultures such as Tierradentro, San Agustín and Inca quipus. Series inspired by nature and space exploration are also on display.

Negret received the Grand Prix for Sculpture at the Venice Biennale in 1968, the Guggenheim Fellowship in 1975 and the Gran Orden of the Ministry of Culture in 2010. Attendees will be able to purchase some pieces during the inauguration.
