The Coir Board has announced plans for 15 new coir clusters across Andhra Pradesh following a two-day conclave in Amalapuram. Officials also outlined support for 20 MSME units in the Konaseema district.
Coir Board Secretary M. S. Lakshmi Priya stated that the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has committed to establishing the clusters. She spoke virtually at the opening of the Konaseema Coir Conclave-2026 on Thursday.
The two-day event, held in collaboration with the Coir Board and the Horticulture Department, ended on Friday in Amalapuram. It focused on opportunities for the coir sector in the Godavari region.
District Collector R. Mahesh Kumar said an action plan is ready to create 20 coir-based MSME units in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district over the next quarter. Stakeholders will receive support in technology, marketing and branding.
Joint Collector Waikon Nydia Devi assured skill upgradation and technological assistance for new units. Participants from Kerala also shared industry experiences during the sessions.
