The National Meteorological Service, under the National Water Commission, forecasted that cold front 16 will cause low temperatures in northern and central Mexico on Saturday, November 29, 2025. Mountainous areas of Chihuahua and Durango will see minima between -10 and -5 degrees Celsius. High zones of Baja California, Sonora, Zacatecas, Tlaxcala, Puebla, and Mexico State will record -5 to 0 degrees with frost.
Other regions, including the sierras of Nuevo León, Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosí, Jalisco, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Mexico City, Veracruz, and Oaxaca, will have temperatures between 0 and 5 degrees with possible frost. Wind gusts up to 70 km/h are expected in the Isthmus and Gulf of Tehuantepec in Oaxaca, decreasing during the day. In Nuevo León and Tamaulipas, gusts will reach 60 km/h, and Coahuila faces a risk of dust devils.
Swells will reach 1.5 to 2.5 meters in the Gulf of Tehuantepec and coasts of Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Tabasco, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo, easing gradually. Regarding precipitation, showers are forecast for Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Veracruz (Los Tuxtlas and Olmeca regions), Guerrero, Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Quintana Roo. Isolated rains will occur in Coahuila, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí (Huasteca), Querétaro (Sierra Gorda), Hidalgo (Sierra Alta, Huasteca, and Sierra de Tenango), Puebla (Sierra Norte, Sierra Nororiental, and Valle Serdán), Mexico State, Tamaulipas, and Veracruz (Huasteca Alta, Huasteca Baja, Totonaca, Nautla, Capital, and Las Montañas).
Authorities warn that frost could freeze road surfaces, and wind gusts may cause trees, billboards, and streetlights to fall. They advise taking extreme precautions, dressing warmly, and ventilating rooms if using heaters. Low temperatures will persist into the early morning of November 30.
